In Memoriam

ImageCharles M. Crump, age 96, died early Monday morning, August 9th, 2010. The Burial of the Dead and The Holy Eucharist will be Thursday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Holy Communion followed by a visitation in Cheney Parish Hall. A private burial for family will be at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested for Church of the Holy Communion, Rhodes College or a charity of choice.

Until his retirement in 2009, Mr. Crump was the oldest and longest practicing attorney in Shelby County.  His grandfather founded the Apperson Crump firm, and he taught scores of lawyers the right way to practice law.  He led his peers by example – community service through organizations such as the Memphis Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club, service to his church, and service to youth such as the Boy Scouts.  He and the example he set will be sorely missed by his colleagues and staff.

Apperson Crump has Moved!

We are pleased to announce that we have moved into our new offices on the 6th and 7th floors of the brand new Triad Centre III building at 6070 Poplar Avenue.  Our longtime landlord, Highwoods Properties, expanded its footprint at the corner of Poplar and Shady Grove by adding this new LEED silver-certified building on the premises and rebranding the property the Triad Centre.  (For more information see:  http://www.triadcentre.com/index.html.)

Strategic Alliance Formed with Jackson, Shields, Yeiser & Holt

Our firm enjoys an Of Counsel relationship with the law firm of Jackson, Shields, Yeiser & Holt, a nationally known boutique law firm serving employer and institutional interests in the areas of employment, labor relations, construction, and education law.  They have offices located in Cordova, Tennessee, and have represented both private and public sector clients across the nation.

Tom Buckner one of Tennessee's Best Lawyers

Tom Buckner has again been named one of the 150 Best Lawyers in Tennessee for 2010 by BusinessTN.  To make it easier to choose the right representation from among the state's roughly 18,000 active attorneys, BusinessTN has published its refreshed annual list of the 150 lawyers whose reputations and current high level of activity distinguish them from the rest.  Tom Buckner was chosen for his expertise in Trust and Estates.  Unlike many published lawyer lists derived more through application than true merit selection, this list is the product of BusinessTN's own due diligence based on peer review by other lawyers, judges, business executives and heads of organizations across the state.

ACM Attorneys selected as Best Lawyers in America

Four Apperson Crump attorneys have been selected for inclusion in the 2010 edition of Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession:  Gary K. Smith in the area of Personal Injury Litigation; Thomas R. Buckner in the area of Trusts and Estates; Henry L. Klein for his work in Municipal Law; and William King Self, Jr., in the Elder Law field.  Best Lawyers compiles lists of outstanding attorneys by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. In the U.S., Best Lawyers publishes an annual referral guide, The Best Lawyers in America, which includes 29,575 attorneys in 78 specialties, covering all 50 states and the District of Columbia.  For more information about this publication, please follow this link:   http://www.bestlawyers.com/aboutus/default.aspx
